Agero Industry News - Winter Weather Tips

Depending on your zone, the winter season can bring unexpected volume as well as unexpected challenges on the job. We recommend keeping some of these preventative safety tips in mind and be patient as this weather can cause a lot of stress.

Try leaving an emergency pack in your glove compartment or trunk containing some gear to get you or someone in need through an uncomfortable time such as:
  • Extra pair of gloves
  • Bright colored cloth (you can tie this to your antenna or door handle for added visibility)
  • Shovel
  • Matchbook/ lighters
  • A small package of mixed nuts, dried fruit, or other sealed snacks to provide you with some energy or comfort in a stressful time
  • A blanket or other warm items to layer up should there be an excessive wait time for assistance to arrive
  • Flashlight & extra batteries

Agero Industry News - Winter Safety Tips

Here are a few suggestions to ensure you get from point A to point B safely and confidently, during the harsh winter months:
  • Keep an eye on the weather forecast during your winter travels as snowfall, ice, and other wintry conditions will certainly play a role in your ETAs and service delivery.
  • Take note of your odometer and coordinate it with exit numbers, mileposts, or crossroads so if you are in a crash or slide off the road you'll be more prepared to identify where you are and acquire assistance more quickly to your location.
  • Be courteous to those awaiting your arrival. Call ahead to your destination just as you are leaving and be realistic about your ETAs. Be sure to keep your customers and Agero aware of your travel statuses and any time changes.
  • Look farther ahead in traffic than you normally do. The actions of other cars and trucks will act as a red flag if there are abnormal road conditions coming your way, allowing you extra time to react safely.
  • Trucks take longer to respond and come to a complete stop when breaking, so break early and break correctly. It takes more time and distance to stop in adverse conditions.

Stay safe and warm!

Agero Industry News - Holiday Call Volume

Agero saw very strong dispatch volume over the Thanksgiving holiday, with significant spikes in volume in the days leading up to and after Thanksgiving.  The highest call volume before Thanksgiving occurred on Monday, November 24th and the largest after took place on Monday, December 1st.  With gas prices falling, travelers may be more inclined to drive more, so expect another busy holiday season.

This year Christmas falls on a Thursday, so expect a volume projection similar to Thanksgiving– high call volume early in the week (Monday / Tuesday), and lower volume on the 24th and 25th.  Call volume will likely peak on Monday, December 29th as travelers head back home.

We’d like to thank you all for your hard work and dedication. We appreciate all of you who work during the holidays, and assist our customers during their travels to visit friends and family.  Thank you for keeping everyone safe!

Agero Industry News - Fourth of July Call Volume

With the Fourth of July, it is imperative that we take all necessary measures to ensure customer satisfaction. Historically, the day after July 4th is one of the busiest days of the year. However, volume is expected to be up all weekend long. It is very important to prepare for this spike in call volume to ensure success.

Here are some simple steps you can take to avoid missing out on any revenue:
  • Staff Accordingly: Keep in mind we expect Saturday, July 5th to be the busiest of the days.
  • Utilize Instant Dispatch: Don’t tie up your phone lines.
  • Be Organized: If you are a Primary Provider make sure you are prioritizing your primary territory.
  • Be Accurate and Responsive: Give accurate response times (ETAs) and don’t let any call go unanswered.
  • Assess and note all pre-existing damages prior to loading or working on a vehicle.
Please take advantage of this busy time of year as it is a great opportunity to build profit margins and improve customer satisfaction ratings. Plan ahead and drive safely!

Have a Safe and Happy Fourth of July

Agero Industry News - Getting Ready For Summer Volume Increases

Agero saw a record breaking winter in terms of call volume, and depending on where you are located in the country, you may have seen the same.  Things have slowed down a bit, as the spring season is a bit slower in terms of volume.  However, summer is right around the corner and our volume will increase during this time.  The winter storms and bitter cold temperatures are difficult to forecast year to year, but we consistently see a significant increase in the summer month as customers take to the road and travel.

Last summer was another busy season for Agero, and July was our busiest month of the summer.  We saw roughly a 10% increase from June to July and much of the increase lasted well into September.

For those of you who don’t do much volume, a 10% increase might not be that significant.  However, for companies that do large amounts of volume with Agero and other accounts, it can be challenging, and the capacity can become difficult to manage.

For 2014, plan on another busy summer season.  If you currently find yourself having a difficult time keeping up in terms of call volume, it will only get busier.  Be sure to be staffed appropriately with enough drivers and trucks to ensure excellent service in the months to come.
